Colònia de Borgonyà. Sant Vicenç de Torelló

Standing between the town of Torelló and the village of Sant Pere, Sant Vicenç de Torelló offers the visitor a Romanesque church whose construction dates back to the 11th century.

The various reforms carried out over the years allow the visitor a glimpse of the changes the church has undergone during its 900-year-long history. Apart from the old centre of the village, the municipality also includes two other centres of population that grew up around the growth of the textile industry: the factory colonies of Vilaseca and Borgonyà - the former being typically Catalan in its structure, the latter being Scottish in style.

Borgonyà began its activity in 1890 and still preserves the houses built by the Fabra-Coats factory, typically British in their style of construction.

Before leaving the village, standing on a 781m high hill we find the Tower of Torelló Castle, also known as the Tower of the Moors, which dates back to the 7th century. From here the beautiful scenery of the Ges Valley can be contemplated. In times of war, the Tower was occupied by the Castlà, the Warden, or Knight, with the men who were to defend it.

Romanesque Church

Iglèsia romànica de Sant Vicenç de Torelló

Built in the 11th century, the church originally had just one nave. Today, the central nave has a barrel-vault ceiling and a semicircular apse, while the two side naves have arris vaulted ceilings. Access to the bell tower is via the presbytery, through a semicircular arch.

The floor of polished grey stone edged with white marble, leaves open to view some areas in which the visitor can observe archaeological remains. All of this makes the church an authentic architectural museum, accessible and understandable to any visitor

Trekking path Camí Vora Ter GR 210

Long distance trekking path, of 61 Km, it passes through Sant Vicenç de Torelló. It approximates us not only to flora and fauna’s patrimony but also the cultural and industrial ones.
