One of the first and most important industrial colonies the middle Ter. It lies on the Ter’s left bank in the city limits of Sant Vicenç de Torelló . It was work of Manlleuan industrialists, Almeda, Sindreu and Puget, who in 1871 obtained the land and exploitation rights for the waterfall in order to build a factory that exceeded the productivity of the factory they ran in Manlleu . | |
Inaugurated in 1880, the colony of Vilaseca started to wave of great textile colonies in the Ges valley. The high start up costs though, required the investors to share the endeavor with Frederic Marcet, a factory owner from Barcelona, so that Vila-seca had the anomaly of two coexisting factories in the same colony. | |
Eventually in 1932 the company of Almeda, Alamany i Cia., heir to the pioneering idea, brought the complex together and ran it as a single business up to modern times. Despite the fact that the Ter factories were focused primarily of making thread, the factories of Vila-seca also had an important cotton weaving section. Guided tour for groups of at least 15 people.
