Les Masies de Voltregà

Verdaguer a la Gleva. Cambra MnCinto
An attractive proposition, while at Les Masies de Voltregà, to learn of the drama that Jacint Verdaguer lived while he was living inside the sanctuary of La Gleva. The verses and sufferings of Mossèn Cinto, recited and narrated by a guide to the Casa Museu Verdaguer (Verdaguer’s house), echo from the walls of one of the most beautiful Baroque sanctuaries in Catalonia. From the balcony of the room the poet spent his spiritual retreat one can see a breathtaking panoramic view of the Ter river.

Mossèn Cinto a la Gleva
The route continues to Vinyoles. There we find the Romanic church where Verdaguer served as a “shepherd of souls” for two years. He planted a bay tree (the tree of poets and immortality) in the rectory garden that today is now over a hundred years old and has become a destination for many pilgrims dedicated to Verdaguer. During that two years stay in Vinyoles, he wrote most of the poem, L’Atlàntida , as well as many others.
