The River Ter

Description

the river Ter
25 km of the course of one of the great rivers of Catalunya that, from its source at Ull de Ter to its mouth at l’Estartit, marks with its banks the limits of our towns and villages. These, for many many years, have made use of the river to power numerous factories and mills, the majority of them in the textile sector.
In recent times industrial activity has declined in the face of increasing mechanisation but farming and agriculture continue to thrive.

The meanders

The river Ter
These are bends in a river, or very pronounced sinuous stretches. Their main characteristic is that they are formed by a process of deposition in the convex inner part of the curve and of erosion in the concave outer part.

As it flows through Osona, the Ter describes up to 19 meanders in little more than 25 km as the crow flies.
